Can anyone confirm the rumor......

I haven't seen any scuttlebutt to that effect from major financial news sources. I suspect such a proposed deal would be unlikely to win regulatory approval.

that at&t is buying verizon. I don't think so but with the economy anything is possible.

I wish someone would buy them out as they are really slow to repair lost service, the problem is in their line, have been waiting for two weeks and have two more to go before they will have a repair person on site. At least they said they would have someone available then. Nearly a month seems to show that the company needs some direction as how to handle repairs.

I don't think there would be any continuation on that. That related to some small service area assets that the FCC required Verizon to get rid of as a condition on its approval of Verizon Wireless' acquisition of Alltel.

Yes, they sold some lines in New England to Fairpoint Communications. Now Fairpoint id bankrupt and the shares I got from this deal will probably be worthless.

Now, new AT&T, really Southwest Bell to buy Verizon would leave only US West as a Baby Bell not brought back into old AT&T, (They belong to Quest).

Would Fox Charlie Charlie allow GTE, MCI, and AT&T Long Distance to be merged?

There is a worthless group called the Public Service Commission that you can call about this problem. The PSC probably won't do anything about it because Verizon is presently trying to get rid of thousands of technicians and their repair service for copper phone lines is almost non existant. If you had fiber they'd get to you tomorrow.
Also Verizon is trying to sell off all of their copper wire phone lines and their central offices so they can go almost totally wireless. Copper phone lines aren't making them enough $$ to keep "Ivan the terrible" happy. Wireless is where the money is today.
And, the billions that they've spent on fiber installation hasn't paid off because most people are not switching over from copper; it's just too expensive so Verizon has had to "eat" the installation costs.

Hey; a coming one world government, one world religion...why not a one world phone company?

AT&T to Spend $1 Billion on New Upgrades to Networ

I think A&T just decided to do the upgrades....

News Headlines

The investment brings to more than $4 billion the total that AT&T has spent to upgrade its systems and services for over 3.5 million businesses since 2006.

From what I've heard from my friends that use AT&T, as soon as Verizon gets the Iphone, they are all dropping AT&T due to the poor service they receive.

I get a much better signal from AT&T wireless than Verizon wireless. Plus, AT&T is GSM vice CDMA. GSM is worldwide. I can use AT&T SIM chip anywhere. I also have O2 card for Europe.

That's very interesting, my girlfriend and my brother n law both have stated that they get very poor service with AT&T on the Iphones, and as soon as Verizon is allowed to provide service they are switching. They both previously had Verizon. On is in Owings, and works in Arlington and the other is in Laplata and works in DC. I wonder if it is the area, or just the service?
