Matthew 2:19 After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt 20 and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead.”
21 So he got up, took the child and his mother and went to the land of Israel. 22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. Having been warned in a dream, he withdrew to the district of Galilee, 23 and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene.
I guess Joseph had to keep Jesus and Mary away from anywhere a "king" would reside. Nazareth was just that kind of place. Jesus was born in Bethlehem.... raised a while in Egypt.... and then settled again in Nazareth.I keep thinking of a verse I heard once....
John 1:45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
46 “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked.
“Come and see,” said Philip.
That's like someone saying.... So what has Southern Maryland got.... that they think they can produce the next president? "Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" See that's the thing... Jesus didn't come from there.... Joseph took Him there because no one would look for Him there.
