i remember when a former classmate caught a huge buck in charles county, the maryland independent printed a pic of him and the deer. complete with the bloody tonque hanging out. it may have even been the front page, but it was the 90s

They were still printing them in MD Independent et al in 2018; thought I'd seen some since then but quick search on their website didn't turn up any after 2018.
My Nebraska cousins post pics like this all the time and I hate it. My one cousin's wife is this adorable girly girl, all hair/nails/clothes/makeup, but that chick typically takes down the biggest deer of the season. She looks like a model posing for an ad, but nope - she's a stone cold Bambi killer.
The Springfield (MA) Republican would print pictures like that back in the day.
When I went to college at Norwich (the military school in Vermont), we'd hang our deer from the trees lining the sides of the parade ground around which the barracks were built.
