Canal

Do you have any info on the small canal that seems to run from the Wicomico river, under RT 234, and under RT 6 near Gilbert Run Park in Charles County? I've ridden on horseback on organized trail rides several times but no one I asked seemed to know much about it. Thanks!

I know the canal you describe. I've always suspected it was dug for drainage, but that is just a guess on my part. I will do some research and get back to you.

We are going to the SMTR Twilight ride Sat evening at PJ Cookseys place on Old Sycamore RD. That ride usually rides along the canal - sometimes down in the canal - but I'm not sure what route they will be taking this year. The ride is usually nice and the food and parking excellent.

The ride at PJ's is a good ride. The canal is fun to ride in. Great bottom. The ride is this Saturday the 20th. There is an ad in the horse section.
