I have an S5 and I am very happy with it so far. If you are looking for an excellent, advanced point and shoot then you are heading in the right direction. If you are coming from an older P&S then you are in for a treat.
This camera only shoots in jpg in case that has any bearing on your decision. There are a couple of advanced point and shoots that record in jpg and raw, so the decision is up to you. Having the option of an external flash is nice, but recommended speedlite flashes are pricey. Shot to shot recovery time is outstanding and the pics I have printed out (7x10) straight from the card have looked great. The editing software that you get w/ the camera is very basic but gets the job done for snapshots and printing.
Check dpreview.com for more technical reviews along with comparison photos. You can also change up (actually add on) different lenses and filters to the S5. I have not purchased any of these accessories , yet.
Where are you getting the camera from?
