Car Dealerships, Nissan Lexington Park

Drove by the Nissan Dealership, and saw a Dodge Dually I wanted to take a look at. Stopped, talked, took it for a test drive, took it home for an overnight, and ended up taking it back the same night, couldn't do it BUT, the experience with the dealership and the salesman was probably the best experience I've had with a dealership (and I'll give an example). They came back with what I thought was a fair offer for my trade, with no back and forth, no shady attempts to short me, just a straight up fair offer. When I came back and told them I just couldn't do it, no problem, still smiling, handshakes, "We understand, if we find the truck you want we'll give you a call".. still as friendly and professional as when I walked in. They went and got my truck (which they parked in their secure lot) handed me my keys, and said feel free to browse. I felt the need to apologize, and he (Chris?) replied.. No Problems, I understand. Feel free to stop in any time.

Overall a great, refreshing experience as far as dealing with car dealerships go..

Hope they stay this way.

Fast forward to yesterday, I find another dually to look at, this time a F350 Platinum at a dealership in Columbia. Seems to be a good deal so drive up to take a look.. APPLE FORD, Columbia MD.. a FORD dealership. Right off the bat I know it's not going to be a good day, they come back with my trade appraisal $7,000 less than the above Dodge dealership.. $35,000, but with a trade I'd get a sales tax break so it's the SAME as almost $40,000 WTF?? Then they show me the KBB "The same KBB you have, and can use, this is what our appraisal is based off of!" and sure enough, the little arrow in the middle of the fan is pointing right at $35,000.. so I get out my phone and run the same app, and KBB comes back with the same graph but my little arrow is pointing at $43,000, a totally different graph, totally different trade in values. I look at their sheet, F250, 2016, diesel.. and it's got the wrong type of truck. Now if I was at a Nissan Dealer I might understand but I'm confident a FORD dealership would know the difference between a Crew Cab, A Super Cab and whatever other cab they have. i would have given a different brand the benefit of the doubt, but no, they were seriously trying to steal $5,000 from me by making a fraudulent KBB trade in value sheet. Deal was done at that point, but I wrapped them around the axle for another 3 hours anyways.. fought our way up to 40K on the trade, and then they couldn't figure out how to put a 5th wheel hitch in the back, and what was already installed. Told them I couldn't do it, and the attitudes showed up, nothing bad, nothing hostile, just a significant change.

Anyways, I really want to give them the benefit of the doubt and say they weren't REALLY trying to rip me off, but I just can't get there.. They are crooks.

I had a dealership try the fake blue book price with me. They entered a lower trim level and put in the wrong mileage.
Bunch of slimy crooks.

Good to know. Thanks for the post. Have been thinking of stopping in to look at one of Nissan's offerings.

If I may if you are looking for a DRW diesel tow vehicle I would suggest something from 2007 back as they only have a catalytic converter after that they all have a diesel particulate filter which robs you of fuel mileage and will clog sooner or later and you will have to get it cleaned or do a delete kit the ones now also have a def(diesel exhaust fluid) tank that you have to put a fluid in but most of all is the price for one of these vehicles when I bought our 5th wheel I had to get another tow vehicle I looked at new ones but could not see spending 55-70,000 on a truck so after some research and many you tube videos I bought a used 2007 FORD f350 lariat 4 door with 12434 miles on it low miles because it was a government truck used on a base I then had the EGR cooler capped off and a oil fitting replaced Kelly bluebook valued this truck at 33000 I paid 29000 for it the dam thing still smelled brand new when I got it in 2016 just my opinion. But if your loaded and want all the bells and whistles by all means go for it.

Depending on what exactly you are looking for, may I recommend Waldorf Ford. Just bought a super duty from them last month. Easiest (and best) car buying experience I've ever had. No haggling, no fighting over trade values. Literally worked out a deal over 2 emails without even having to go to the dealership.

If you want to speak with a salesman, I recommend Josiah.....If you wanna get straight to the point, ask for Faruq (sales manager).

Glad to read that there may have been a change of attitude at Waldorf Ford.

I bought several vehicles from them a few years back and the experience was absolutely awful in every respect. Had to deal with them as they were the only dealership in the area that had the vehicles I wanted. Have not even stopped in since.

So I do appreciate the update..

Thank you.

I second that.. just bought my F450 from them.. called told them what I wanted, what my financial requirements were and 2.5 hours later had a new truck.

They beat their competitor by almost 9k on near identical trucks that started at the same MSRP. of course they mentioned all the aftermarket stuff, extended warranties, service contracts, but when I said no, they didn't push.

Got me the perfect truck for me for less than my max payment.

Bill Millman was my salesman (commercial sales).. asked what I wanted and put it together in about 1/2 hour. THINK I heard somebody say it was his first week.. hope they take him aside and tell them not ALL sales are this easy.
