Jayski's: #19-Carl Edwards is expected to announce Wednesday that he will retire immediately from NASCAR racing, according to sources familiar with his plans. Edwards, 37, spent 13 years in the Cup Series and won 28 times in 445 starts. No immediate reason was available for why Edwards would retire. Daniel Suarez will be named the replacement for Edwards at Joe Gibbs Racing, sources said. Suarez, from Mexico, became the first foreign-born driver to win a NASCAR national series when he earned the Xfinity Series title.

I hope it's nothing medically related. Maybe Carl can get a job in the booth. He'd be soooooooo much better than the Waltrip brothers.

What's the desire with rushing these young Xfinity drivers into Cup. I'd much rather see Suarez try to defend his Xfinity title. I'd guess Arris has something to do with this move.

I hope its not medically related either. But medical was my initial assumption, since he is in the prime of his career and with a top notch team at Joe Gibbs Racing. Seems very unusual. Guess we will find out the reason tomorrow.

As far as Suarez in the 19, it seems like he would be the next logical driver in the Gibbs farm system, since Eric Jones already has a Cup deal in place at Furniture Row this year.

Well glad Carl is in good health. Sounds like he wanted to quit while he still had his health and wants to pursue other things other than racing. He hinted towards running for some type of political office someday, but didn't give any real specifics as to what he plans to do next.
