Many many hundreds of years ago when I was a teenager, a friend of mine had a cat which had kittens. I was over their house when the cat went into labor, and I remember that we thought the first kitten was coming, but out came this still lumpish mass... Before we could figure out WTF happened, the cat ate the mass, and we all rolled around on the floor making retching noises for the next 20 minutes. (Later we decided that it must have been a deformed stillbirth, because that's the only thing that made any kind of sense).
Fast-foward to 2008: A friend of mine has a cat that's in labor right now as I type this (different friend/different cat), and just described to me over the phone the EXACT same thing, only without all the retching. The cat gave birth to something unidentified, and before anyone could make something out of it - GULP! Snack time for mama-kitty.
Is this a normal thing in cats, or is this just an incredible coincidence that the same outlandishly freaky thing happens on opposite ends of a 20 year period to someone with minimum exposure to cats.
