Cat repellent for houseplants?

Is there such a thing? I hope to drop in at Petsmart later and ask them the same question, but thought I'd ask here, too. We have 2 nice hibiscus plants that my cats are slowing killing. At this point, they know better than to do it when we are in the room, but it's obvious that they are snacking on the leaves while we're at work.

I did a search and came up with SSScat - the air sprayer to scare them off. Nothing else. Anybody have an idea?

Short of putting the plants in a dog crate, I have no clue. :lmao:

NOTHING worked last year to keep my darlings away from my Christmas tree.

This contraption works GREAT! The initial investment is about $40, and the spray cans run about $8. My cat QUICKLY learned to stay away from furniture. Unfortunately, the cans run out so quickly (in my home) and I haven't purchased one in many, many months.

couldn't you just use the cheapo compressed air cans for comp cleaning?

You could try growing them their own plants; like cosmic kitty herbs. My cats especially chow down on them when they are working on yakking up a hairball.

Will the leaves tolerate bitter apple or water boiled with canne pepers or something similar? Wipe with Hot Sauce? Not sure if they will bother the plant but you could test a leaf and see. I used hot sauce to get a pom to stop eating my kitchen...but....one liked the Texas Pete and started licking everything....

There are also cat products that are supposed to keep cats away but not sure if they really work or not.

I need something to keep one off my shoes. She likes to lay on them in the closet and some of them are suede/fabric and they get cat hair all over them. Plus she jumps up on the shelf in the closet and lays all over my purses.

Close your closet door?

There's a window in there where they like to lay too. Plus, I'd forget all the time. Lint rollering shoes is a bit much though.

Guess all you can do then is to sport your new Furry Items with Pride! If anyone asks say it is a fashion statement. :killingme
