Cats and Hardwood Floor

I'm getting ready to have hardwood floors put in and the carpet removed. Pls tell me that the kitties and hardwood floors are compatible?? Scratches? Furballs?

I have hardwood floors and 3 cats, only one really sheds but I like to call the furballs tumbleweeds. :killingme

Furballs like tumbleweed in the desert. :lmao: I don't think our cats scratch the floor. :shrug: They usually don't walk around with their claws out, and they're so small they probably wouldn't do much damage. Are you getting real hardwood or laminate? Laminate is so tough nothing would hurt it.

Can't speak for everybody but we have 3 cats, Petey, Zero, and Kit. 2 males and a female. We have hardwood floors in about 33% of the house. Fur on the floor when they shed, yes, comes up easily. Not too much trouble with furballs. And no problems with scratches.

hubby insisted on real hardwood. if it'd been up to me I'd have put in old-fashioned industrial tile, the kind like they have in school hallways, old military bases, older office buildings, etc., but nooooo, we had to order real wood. I've got 5 cats. Furballs don't bother me much. I get them up pretty quick. But these guys get to racing around, doing the nighttime crazies and I'm wondering how much damage they can do wih their claws. I'm thinking that after a few months, maybe my floor will look like the more expensive "distressed" wood they sell nowadays in the store.

I've had real hardwood for a year and half with two cats. No issues with scratches. They race around like a bat out of hell to, but no harm to the floors

It's funny as hell when you put scotch tape on their paws and they try to walk on the hardwood floors. :killingme

Hardwood is great with cats. No stains, no dander, no trapped odors and in the summer, my cat loves to strech out on it because it's nice and cool.

When I had the foster kittens a while back it was funny watching them run around on the hardwood. They would loose traction and wipe out all the time.

I think I'm just crabby today. I just like stuff already broke in, not new stuff. The carpet we have definitely has that "broke in" look and I'm used to it. Now I have to get used to something new.

Hardwood floors are great! The cats still race around and play like "Tom Cruise" everyonce in a while. The dogs get into chasing and playing with each other too. Easier to clean than carpet with pets.

yeah, I'll like the floor alot better once it's broke in.

Are you sure it's my carrier? Is it in your store? I'm coming down your way today, I could stop by. ;)
