Cats do mourn...

Last Sunday, my dog (Macon) passed away (we had to have him put down...)

He always slept behind our sofa in the living room. It was his favorite place.

On Monday morning, we buried him in our yard. Our cat, Reeses, walked around and meowed all day. At one point, he went over to the spot behind the sofa, and laid down on it.(This was very unusual as he never went there before.) I tried to take a picture of him, but by the time I got the camera, he had gotten up...

One of our cats favorite hangouts is where our sick cat hung out just before he died. They only knew each other for a couple of months.

When my dad passed away, his cat immediately got very sick, wouldn't eat, they took her to the vet and the vet couldn't find anything wrong with her. My niece kept and and seriously thought she was going to die, but she bounced back somehow and lived for another 15 years. I believe she was mourning my dad.

Have any of you ever heard a cat cry? I mean... cry like a little baby? We took in a stray kitten that was only about 4 weeks old about a year ago. I swear she cried at night like a little baby. Whimpered and all. My husband heard it too, and we couldn't believe how much she sounded like a little baby. Broke my heart. Since then, I'm very close to her and she really looks to me as though I am her mother. Love those fur babies. They do have feelings.
