How do i talk my stepfather into not changing the dogs food he wants to change her to a cheap food (hes tired of spending 31.00 on a good brand of dog food for a 40lb instead he wants to feed her a 10.00 bag of dogfood which I don't think is a good idea as she might end up sick) he doesn't understand he says shes just a dog who cares. Well I care she has done very good on this food and its helping her put her weight on slowly. He said he wants to go to southern states and get it since its only 10.00 and a few people tell him oh its the best food (pro pet or big red) which I don't have a clue if its good or not as everyone I have talked to told me not to give her a high protein food as she will put on weight too fast and then end up with hip and other problems.

I would suggest that you offer to help pay for the good food by doing chores, etc. or getting a part time job.

BSgal Bruno is my stepfathers dog. Don't get me wrong I pay for most of the stuff for bruno I have paid for all of her vetting and all of her flea and heartworm stuff. I don't drive so I mentioned to him we are almost out of food and he goes damn I forgot to go by southernstates to get the cheaper food. I have paid for her food on many occasions. I do most of the stuff for the dog even though she isn't mine. I am mainly the one who takes care of her. All I did was ask him to take me by ridge hardware and that is when he made the comment. I am the one who mainly doesn't want her food switched as I don't want her to get diareah (sp) and sick from changing her food as she has been on this food since she was 3 months of age and shes now 9 months old soon to be 10 comes october 11th.

I think you should shop around, I'm sure you can find $200 dog food for it, and I'm sure since it's $200 it would FIVE times better than what you are feeding it now.
