Charles Co. CCPS, Board seek parent, student, staff input on spring break

The Board of Education of Charles County and Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) are evaluating ways to provide instructional time for students. Per Maryland law, CCPS is required to provide 180 days of instructional time for students. Due to the school closure in place by Governor Hogan and the Maryland State Superintendent of Schools, schools are closed for students through April 24.

Any waiver to the 180-day requirement would be determined by the Maryland State Board of Education. The Governor’s declaration of a state of emergency does not automatically mean that instructional requirement of 180-days is waived.

CCPS has developed a brief survey about make-up dates for students and staff. The survey includes questions about spring break preferences. The 2019-20 school calendar includes closures for both students and staff for April 10, 13 and 14. Parents, CCPS staff, students and community members are encouraged to complete the survey. The survey is posted under the What’s New section of the CCPS website, ccboe.com.

The survey can also be accessed direct here: https://www.ccboe.com/survey2/index.php?r=survey/index&sid=933895. Users can complete the survey in English or select Spanish at the top of the page in the language box.

The survey closes Thursday, April 2 at noon. Questions can be directed to Ask CCPS here: https://www.ccboe.com/askccps/.
