Cell phone bill...megabyte usage?

There are 6 "megabyte usage" charges on our cell phone bill this month, for almost $12. What the heck does this mean? How does one use megabytes?

Call the cell company and ask. It's probably pictures or something someone has sent you, or you sent to them.

Viewing the internet, downloading something... those are both megabyte usage charges.

If you get a picture mail or send pictures, that is also megabyte used

Don't know what service she has, but not on Verizon..

When they specify Megabyte usage it's going on the internet, or using the mobile web.. without buying the mobile web package.

Checking hotmail.. or e-mail...
Getting weather updates, stock quotes..

and even with the package you are charged minutes for each minute you are on there, like you were on a phone call.

I think that would be the case if you were using the phone as a mobile modem to connect to another internet provider.

I have the "unlimited internet package" and I don't get charged :shrug:

Again, don't know what service you use, but not so with Verizon.

Unless you are using it to connect to a dial up ISP.
