Only happy When It Rains
While the investigation continues into the fatal car accident on Route 90 near Ocean City on July 10 that claimed the wife of popular radio personality Don Geronimo, one half of the syndicated “Don and Mike Show,” Maryland State Police crash reconstruction team officials said this week charges are pending in the case.
Freda Wright-Sorce, 50, of Great Falls, Va., was driving on Route 90 near its intersection with St. Martin’s Neck Rd. on Sunday evening, June 10, when her 2005 Lexus collided head-on with a 1997 Ford Explorer driven by Jevgenijs Dunajevskis, 22, of Ocean Pines.
Dunajevskis swerved to avoid crashing into the last vehicle in a 10-car pile-up characterized by police as a series of fender benders, crossed the median and slammed head-on into the Lexus driven by Wright-Sorce.
The MSP CRASH reconstruction team has not completely finished its investigation of the accident, but officials did say this week there are charges pending in the case.
“The investigation is still officially open but we should have it wrapped up shortly,” said MSP Corporal James Pilchard. “Charges are pending, but we aren’t certain just what the nature of the charges will be. We’ll forward our official investigation to the State’s Attorney’s Office, which will make that determination.”
Meanwhile, Geronimo, whose real name is Mike Sorce, returned to the show on Monday with a heartfelt tribute to his beloved wife, who was a frequent contributor to the wildly popular syndicated radio show. Monday’s show opened with the couple’s song, “Don’t Worry Baby” by the Beach Boys, and Sorce spent the first hour recalling fond memories of Freda, explaining how their radio relationship differed from their real-life relationship.
“First and foremost, in real life – not radio life, not what you heard on the radio – was that my wife and I had a true love,” he said. “I adored her and she me.”
