The annual Charles County College Fair is set for Monday, Sept. 13, at North Point High School in Waldorf. Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) juniors and seniors will attend the fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. as part of a school field trip.
During their visit, students can meet with representatives from colleges and universities, including those from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), talk with recruiters who represent the U.S. Armed Forces and learn about opportunities available through vocational and technical schools.
No evening session will be held this year as it has in the past. Christian Zimmerman, director of financial assistance at the College of Southern Maryland, will hold a virtual financial aid presentation at 6 p.m. The link to the presentation is https://csmd.zoom.us/j/97921747850?from=addon. Zimmerman will share tips for students in how to apply for financial aid and scholarships, requirements for financial aid and local resources.
CCPS students who plan to attend the fair during the school day must submit a signed permission form to the college and career advisor at school. There is no cost to attend the fair. Questions about the fair can be directed to the college and career advisor at each high school or Jacqueline Cheaves, supervising counselor for CCPS, at jcheaves@ccboe.com. Students and parents with follow up questions following the fair can contact their school’s college and career advisor.
