Evening all! I spent a bit of time reading all of the posts looking for a couple of answers..

1) Do I need a digital trunking scanner to listen to the Sheriff's Department?

2) Anyone upgraded recently looking to sell the old one?

You could listen to some of the channels on VHF (and some patched 800Mhz stuff) as they are being simulcated; Charles County, Maryland (MD) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

To get all the channels you will need Digital Trunking; Charles County Trunking System, La Plata, Maryland - Scanner Frequencies

Good luck finding a used unit, but you can always search Ebay or Eham.net

I have the BCD-396T (replaced by the 396XT) and it works great.
