Practices scheduled to start no later than 8:00pm, Monday-Thursday. Coaches contact players regarding practice schedules mid-December. 10-game season starts mid-January 2007. Games will be played Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays. Age for Registration is "As of January 1, 2007."
Late registrations will only be accepted at the Department of Community Services Building in La Plata.
The Department of Community Services' community-based recreational youth basketball and soccer leagues are, first and foremost, intended to provide a positive social experience for young boys and girls with emphasis placed on good sportsmanship, fun, and exercise. Children are placed on teams based on area, age, height, and experience. Coaches are NYSCA certified. Players and coaches receive a team shirt. Visit your Community Center for size samples. It is your responsibility to select the correct shirt size. Leagues may be combined in basketball and soccer if not enough participation.
