Diabetes Education

Services

• Diabetes Self-Management Education for:
  • Adults with Type 1 diabetes; Type 2 diabetes; Women with gestational diabetes
  • Insured and uninsured individuals
• Blood sugar meter training
• Individual evaluation and diabetes instruction
• Group education classes (Daytime and evening classes are available)
• Insulin instruction, injection training, glucagon training
• Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and help with weight management (offered for patients with diabetes only)
• Diabetes 101 class is offered for those who are uninsured or underinsured

Subjects covered include​

• Healthy Eating
• Being Active
• Monitoring Blood Sugar
• Taking Medications
• Problem Solving (Preventing & treating high blood sugar & low blood sugar)
• Healthy Coping
• Reducing Risks

Participants will receive written material on every subject.

Please arrive about 15 minutes early to Patient Registration, located in our Same Day Surgery department on the first floor of the hospital.

Please bring blood sugar meter (if you have one) or a blood sugar log and a list of medications.
