Cliff notes. New Carroltons new red light cams dont just get you going through the light, they get you for just going past the stop line, even if you dont go so far as to enter the cross walk. Go past the stop line and then stop? Still a ticket. Hilarious vid of Fox news reporter talking to folks stopped at red light while the camera flashes them.

When I got my red light ticket in Charles County, there were 3 pics of my vehicle. One was a front picture of my car at the stop line and then the other two were rear pictures, one showing me at the line again and then one showing me in the intersection under the traffic lights. It was obvious I ran the red light. Are the people in New Carrollton getting picture showing them in the intersection under the traffic lights?

i got a ticket, first two pics showed my car past the line, the third showed my car behind the line, i stopped cause i didnt want to get the ticket, and backed up! and still got the ticket! i shouldve just ran it since i got the ticket

Nope, appears that they are just getting one from up high the intersection, showing the car stopped beyond the stop line. Looking at the New Carrolton PD website red light FAQ, they openly admit that thats a $75 dollar offense also.

Love to see the revenue numbers from this system.

This is bonkers. They need to do a calibration on the camers so you don;t get a ticket if your speed is 0mph.

blm, in that regard, no they are not cheating, but really, if the proposed benefit is safety, then no real benefit is gotten, unless they have had a rash on pedestrian deaths or injuries. Heck, Id even be okay if it was overrunning the crosswalk. But the stop line? Unless you have a big freaking sign, its just a bit much.

Me, I'm actually a bug about the stop line myself, and do get annoyed when folks overrun it, but still. Xbox, they are not broken, they are setup that way on purpose, increases revenue.

I dont know if its just the New Carrolton redlight camera, but when they put the redlight camera at 301 and Cedarville, I know someone who got one with his car stopped and sticking over the stop line. Dont know if thats still the case there or not, Im not going to find out for myself if its still that way now. I'll send Beaver Boy up to check it out.
