5 Women Dead In Lane Bryant Shooting - News Story - WMAQ | Chicago

How horrible. It appears it was a robbery gone bad and that these 6 woman were taken into a back closet and shot, 5 died , and one lived because the bullet meant for her head grazed her neck.

Just think of the mind of one who is capable of such a crime? I'd be willing to bet that this gunman had one hell of a prior criminal record, as most who do such horrid crimes do. But it made me think of a recent A&E special that stated that in America, we have more people incarcerated than any other country. Obviously our criminal justice system doesn't work.

This happened Saturday and they haven't reported any arrest, 6 days later.

A police helicopter was used in the search for the suspected killer, described as a man with braids or beads in his hair. In a news conference, Grady said that authorities were looking for a "medium-skinned" black man who was about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 230 to 260 pounds. Grady said the man was seen wearing a waist-length winter coat, jeans and a cap that were all black.

The victims and a brief summary, 3 worked closely helping people, one was a broker and the other a stay at home mom.

If we would enforce capital punishment in all states and carry it out within a year then maybe crooks would think twice before committing a crime.

If the criminals are incarcerated, obviously our justice system DOES work.

What are you *supposed* to do with criminals?

Ahhh...got it! That's a much better solution. Pandora's right - our criminal justice system doesn't work. :yay:

The issue is that they serve their sentences and go right back out and commit more crimes. They are just recycled in the system, over and over again. They choose to be criminal thugs and that is the lifestyle they want to live, nothing going to change that. All jail does is slow them down for a minute.

I don't know what the answer is (kinda the open ended question here in my thread), but I do have a strong feeling that the man that walked into that store Saturday wasn't a first time offender. He most likely was one of those career criminals, maybe a few prior possession charges, other thefts, assaults and his behavior escalated to this crime, maybe?

Personally I am tired of my tax dollars paying to feed, cloth and education the criminals, not to mention the ones that get out on parole and go back to doing crime............what about the victims rights...........criminals should not have any rights.

Wood-Chipper.
I like that. Very creative.

the justice system doesn't work because inmates have it better than most of middle/lower class American in the pokey. A lot of them commit crimes to get back in.
Capitol punishment would reduce the cost of feeding/boarding these animals.

Just think...

If one of those women had been armed the outcome might be different.

This is along the same thought I had. These woman got up, got out of bed, did the same things each of us do every day, only to arrive in a place and be murdered. How everything can change in a moment and as you can read from the profiles I posted, these were good people. The woman who was a counselor for youths had well over 500 people at her funeral, crying their eyes out. How many of us can honestly say we'll have 500 people crying their eyes out at our funeral?

One of the family members said in an interview that these women had their hands tied behind their backs, helpless as the bullets were fired into their heads. This cold blooded murder, took away these woman's lives without any regard to their lives and those they would leave behind. As if it meant nothing.

These criminals indeed have way too many rights. If they are upset about the food served to them while incarcerated, they can file a grievance. Isn't that something? Prison is like summer camp these days, with a grievance process over everything.

And when they violate their parole, it isn't their character that is questioned, it is the character of the one put in charge of their supervision that is questioned, having to prove that the supervisor, indeed, offered them every ounce of help they could.

We make jokes and say "wood chipper" and even GPS trackers that blow them to pieces if they step out of bounds, but the fact remains they get all these rights on our tax dollars. Shouldn't we be the ones to make the rules?

Very good point! :yay:

How can one say the criminal justice system doesnt work in this case.?

It isnt the justice system that raised this person to manhood believing that killing people is his right. The Justice system didnt turn him into a killer, something in his environment did. He wasnt given a work ethic, he was told from birth that someone owed him a living, that he was picked on, and that it was ok to murder those he felt antaganistic too. He didnt do well in school ,not because he was lazy and didnt work at an education, but because his teachers didnt like him. His parents (if he even knows them)looked the other way when he came home with notes from school stating his discipline and educational problems. He found it hard to get a job when he showed up at employers with an attitude and wearing his pants down around his ankles. He was fired from a job,not because he couldnt show up on time and do a days work, but because his employer had something against him.

No it wasnt the criminal justice system that failed. it was the culture he was raised in.
He is no more concerned that he killed these people than I would be for destroying a nest of cockroaches, and yet if found and convicted some ignorant Dudley do Right, will be standing outside the prison walls making excuses for him and holding candlelight vigils..

If he is arrested we can expect a Grandmother to show up telling us what a great kid he was.

Reminds me of those three hooligans who raped that poor child on Okinawa.
Their parents showed up claiming their "children" couldn't have done this because they knew them.
Unfortunately, for them, the crime and court was in a foreign country where the victim had more rights than these bastards, and they ended up in a foreign prison, no rights, no MTV, zilch. What do they know that we don't ?
