Child Support Question

So I just found out my ex skipped town, taking his child support with him.

I have no address, no phone number, and really no clue as to what state he moved to. He might've moved back to Oregon, he might've moved to New York... hell he might just show up on my doorstep one evening... it's hard to say.

The state of MN, being overburdened with such things, has really no inclination to try and find him in a major hurry. I have his social security number, and an Oregon license number... are there any legitimite sites on the web to actually find out information about him, like where he might currently be?

If he just skipped, I doubt the search sites would be updated yet. There are plenty of sites though, which I have never used, so I don't know how hard they really search for the price they charge.

If you considered contacting a lawyer, they may have more reliable search engines for their use and your benefit

J.F. A sus ordenes!
I pay support for my daughter who lives in NY state. I just recently took a part time job and the system pinged my part time employer immediately stating they had to garnish my wages for the same amount my full time employer pays already. Not sure how the state you order came from works but the system was quick to act the moment my W-2 form got filed with part time employer. If he gets a real job the system may catch up to him.

Hope things work out for ya!

I wish I could help Kris out... as you know I deal with a deadbeat myself. So I don't know what advice to offer her. Maybe I should meet with her attorney
 I think my attorney is gonna refer me out to someone who might be more able to help, since we deal with mostly Tort and Criminal law...

But you were already in the system for garnishment and they knew what state you were in. When you get a job working for someone else, they have to pay workman's compensation insurance. The State Department of Economic Development and the State Office of Child Support Enforcement share a computer.

Kevin is already in the system, I think, since they were taking it from his paycheck.

So maybe if I'm patient...

But there may be a problem if he moved out of state. It takes time to catch them. Your best bet is to call the Child Support Enforcement office and explain. They can put his social into a national database, so he will show up faster.

Watch it
As long as his employer has him fill out the new hire form then he should pop up quickly. It is required by law and my employees don't get to start working until they have one filled out. I fax it right in and if they owe child support I have a notice within two weeks to garnish.

Hopefully it will be that easy for you :)

I agree. Hope you find his sorry butt and he does the right thing.
