For chronic lower back pain. Good or bad?

Think twice!
There is currently no universally accepted classification of pain management techniques for back pain or neck pain. Most pain management specialists are seen by referral from a physician. If you feel it is appropriate, consult your doctor for information about a pain management program. Pain management specialists are most often called upon to treat severe back pain, challenging chronic pain, and patients with failed back surgery syndrome.

Are you one of these folks??

Patients should keep in mind that there are many varieties of pain management programs to explore. This process can be confusing or frustrating at times, but the important point is to work proactively with your health professionals and not to give up if one initially encounters an unsatisfactory result. While this can be a significant challenge for patients enduring pain, once you find an approach that you are comfortable with your condition should improve.

My husband goes to the chiro. on a regular basis. They've been able to avoid surgery for 8 years with the treatments...

We use Cohen Chiropractic in Edgewater...

Love my back cracker! Dr Murry in Leonardtown. Tried a few other local Docs, but really like him because hes' a one man show, and he doesn't rush you in/out. He listens, and helps!! ....my 2 cents

Best of luck!!

I have chronic low back pain and I feel great after having been to the chiropractor. I fully recognize what the other person wrote but chiropractic does help me. I go to Dr. Mark Alfano in LaPlata and I was recommended by my pain management specialist. So far he has been the only one to help me avoid surgery.

Hubby and I combine chiro and massage. Every other week we see one or the other.

I highly HIGHLY recommend Dr. Murray in Leonardtown, he's hands on and spends allot of time with you. And the group at Michelle Lea & Assoc in Hollywood are awesome too. They've been around a LONG time and both places know their stuff.

Trust me I've tried em all.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone. I don't live in the area, so I can't see Dr. Murray (he seems popular ). I have awful lower back pain, seems to be a muscular thing. I didn't know if the chiro can help that, because I've never been to one. I'm going to get my regular doc's opinion on it, and then I'll decide.

I definitely think that chiros help for many things -- and not just backs, you would probably be surprised. Anyway, I was only going to post to suggest that if you don't like the first chiro you go to, try another. Each one's technique is different and one particular person may just not work for you.

I was never a believer, till I went, its been about 10 years since Ive been, but about 20 years ago, the chiro saved me from surgery. Lower back bulging disc and siattic(sp) nerve oh what pain, took about 6 weeks but I havent gone back with that problem. Have pinched nerve in the neck now, had to go through the primary doctor now with my insurance, didnot have to back then, just got refered this week for therapy, asked doc about chiro, dont think he is a believer shook his head nah, sent me to a therapist instead made my first visit for Monday, we will see how that goes.

Do they have all the same equipmment like a chiro has, the ultrasound and heat things.
