Choosing a builder? read this! Quality Built homes

When I moved to southern MD close to 10 years ago from the Baltimore area, I didn't know anyone or anything about the area. After meeting with a few different builders, I decided to have a home built by Quality Built Homes inc. I went with them because at the time, I felt most comfortable with them, and I liked what they had to offer.

For close to 10 years, everything with the house had been just fine, until one day I noticed a wet spot in my backyard. With a bit of trouble shooting, I figured out that a pipe under my basement floor had broken. I called quality built homes inc. to inquire about warranty information on the plumbing. The warranty had run out.

That day, I realized that having a home built by them was the BEST DECISION OF MY LIFE. The person I spoke with on the phone, Wayne, after taking the time to explain the warranty information, offered to stop by and take a look at the problem and see if he could help. After coming by that day, he started the ball rolling by getting all the professionals needed (plumbers, concrete experts, painters, carpet and flooring installers, and I'm sure I'm forgetting others) to get my house back to as good as new.

All this work, time, and effort was completed and the whole experience never took a PENNY out of my pocket. I was on my way to the store to buy a $3.00 item that was needed, and I was stopped and told not to worry about it, they would take care of it.

I have no idea what caused that pipe under the house to break. My best guess is that it was due to the earthquake we had in 2011. That didn't matter to Quality Built Homes though. All they cared about was getting my home fixed and returned to the way it was before this all happened.

It's so rare in this day and age for companies to go above and beyond ALL expectations to stand by their product the way QBHI does. Anyone who is looking for a builder would be a fool not to put Quality Built homes inc. at the top of their list.

I have a QBHI home and have great things to say about the company. It's good to know that 10 years later and they still have your back! :buddies:

Only issues I have - the amount of nail pops I have had to repair and the way they built the patio. Otherwise it has been good.

My house was built by QBHI too and needless to say, a very happy owner. I would even call my Builder Tim Dyson from time to time for upgrade recommendations and he's very helpful.

Whats the best way to fix thoes? I have a ton in my living room. Thanks to the earthquake.

You can fix them, but over time they will just pop out again. If you're going to go to all the trouble of trying to fix it, best thing to do is drive a drywall SCREW near the popped nail, drive the nail back in and then spackle and repaint everything. Nails are the worst fastening device for drywall. Just the settling of the house causes them to back out.

Had a QBH house too, about 10 years ago. Way lot of house for the money. Yes, they have nail pops. But I got great shingles, siding, insulation, windows, kitchen vinyl, and so on. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

i bet the original owner either removed it for some reason, or requested it not be put in. Makes no sense at all for any builder to not insulate an attic.

maybe a do-it-yourself project that never got finished.

No half the attic was done the other half wasn't.

we do not have a home built from this company BUT we did have no insulation in our attic when we oved in to our home. TOok the company that built the house a little bit to figure out why it was so hot in here. Had an outside company come in and thats what happened. They inspector said if they dont leave a ladder for them to look up in attic they just assume its there.
