I sing with Chesapeake Community Chorus. We are a group of about 30 choir members from various churches in Calvert County. We practice every other Sunday afternoon from 4-6 (school year only), perform concerts in local churches in Calvert about once a month in the late fall/winter/early spring. We take a free will offering for mainly Calvert Hospice, but a few other charties too. We are not professional, but have a great time singing gospel and sacred music.

I have two choirs to recommend for you. The first is the college choir at College of Southern Maryland. It's a small group, but we're fun people and accepting of new members. The choir consists of both college students and community members. The director is Michael Santana - he's amazing. Our practices are 7-9:30pm at the college on Thursdays and sometimes Tuesdays as well.

The other is CCAS which is the Chesapeake Choral Arts Society. It's a bit larger group that practices on Mondays from 7-9pm at the Methodist Church in La Plata. It's also directed by Michael Santana.

Both choirs only rehearse during the school year.

This is great! I might go and take a look, too. I've just relocated here recently and would be interested in joining a choir, too. When you say CSM, are you talking about the one in California? I would like to drop by if it's possible. =)

I'm so sorry, I should have been clear. I meant the CSM main campus which is in La Plata on Mitchell Road. Sorry for the confusion!
