Hayes defended Biden's trouble with the truth as 'normal politician bs-ing'

MSNBC’s "All In" host Chris Hayes was widely rebuked on Tuesday after he downplayed President Biden's decades-long history of falsehoods while discussing GOP Rep.-elect George Santos's resume debacle.

Santos, the New York representative-elect, admitted on Monday to lying during his campaign about his work experience and education, prompting a strong reaction from Democrat politicians and media pundits who immediately deemed him unfit to serve in Congress.

While many on Twitter chastised Santos as a "degenerate liar" for misleading voters about his professional past, others called out the hypocrisy of the left's exasperation after years of excusing Biden's trouble with the truth.





Others pointed to a tweet from Grabien founder Tom Elliott, who outlined several of the president's acknowledged falsehoods and embellishments in a five-part thread last week.

"— Survived a fire — Arrested in civil rights march — Star football player — Once a truck driver — Arrested meeting Mandela — Son killed in Iraq — Overheard mass shooting — Top of his class in college — Hit a 368’ homer in baseball game — Had job at timber co.," Elliot wrote.

"— Oil industry somehow gave him cancer — Won a fight against a drug dealer named Cornpop — Dead Amtrak worker awarded him for riding 1.8 million miles — Attended Temple services on a Sunday — Raised in Puerto Rican community — Worked as a college proof," he continued.

The media is complaining about this guy lying and not stepping down. But did it ever occur to the media that if they had done their job before he was elected then maybe we wouldn't be here now? Or maybe we would because the voters may prefer a lying republican now admitting he lied over a lying AND corrupt democrat who never admits to their lies.

IIRC - in '88 they DID call him out, mostly for plagiarism. But that's also where I heard about the graduating near the top of his class stuff too.
He dropped out of the race because he was just too ridiculous to be believed - and then of course, he went back to Delaware to get re-elected as Senator for another 20+ years.

I remember that election - they referred to the field of Democratic hopefuls as "the seven Dwarves" since not a one of them had national recognition. Gary Hart at the time was considered a shoo-in for the nomination - but was hounded by the specter of scandal and he had THE BALLS to DARE them to find anything on him - which they found within a week. What was the name of his boat? "Monkey Business"? (TECHNICALLY, what he said was, if they followed him around, they'd be bored).

Biden not long after had the plagiarism speech debacle which, combined with evidence that he'd plagiarized material while at law school at Syracuse - he was done.

If you think about it, this was back when you COULD lose a race in the Democratic Party by having scandal. At least, they could boot you if you weren't one of the favorites.

I think what GETS me about Santos is - he lied on credentials, and I'd wager half of Washington - lobbyists, staff - I'd bet THEIR resumes are embellished. What BOTHERS me about it is - he was clearly stupid enough to think he could get away with it. Really? In this day and age, they can find out who you bullied in kindergarten or how many parking tickets you have - and this guy - nobody - could just make crap up and no one would be wiser.

I realize this applies to people like Al Gore or Hillary or Biden - but the media likes them. Biden could make chit up all day about himself, and they would still give him a pass.

How about a man claiming to be born in Hawaii, but no nurse or Doctor remembers the birth, a fake birth certificate. 3 Colleges, but no one remembers seeing him there. A Social security number from a dead guy in Connecticut. Where are the birth certificates for his 2 daughters or a baby pictures of either of them.

Of these - only the reluctant nature of the state officials in Hawaii ever aroused my suspicion - and the SSN numbers.

It's clear enough from the ubiquity of stories and pics of his "Choom Gang" years, that he WAS, in fact, at Columbia. There are stories and praise from professors from his college days. He went to all of them.

The birth certificate - he has a certificate of live birth , which I have for each of my children, but they were in fact, all born abroad. Nevertheless, it can be used as a proxy for a real one - which Hawaiian state officials claim they have seen, but they are under no obligation to produce. That's a lost cause.

The SSN? That, I don't know. To my knowledge, SSNs aren't even every "recycled", so the argument that it belonged to someone who had died still doesn't work.

BTW - I've - "heard" - that they no longer issue the regular 9 digit numbers, but rather, extensions of their parent's numbers. I have never seen this. Is that true?

Illegal aliens use them, recycled ssns, to gain employment by providing fake numbers to satisfy the employers requirement. Lots of dead people still working 40+ hours a week.
