Why America’s Christian leaders tolerate Trump
Five influential conservatives talk about Trump’s conversion to Christ, and their conversion to Trump.
I was listening to the radio when Tony Perkins was talking about this meeting. He said what impressed him most about Trump, is that he sincerely "listens".
He looks you in the eye while you're talking, and he asks questions when he doesn't understand something. He doesn't go off on a tangent and try to convince you to change your mind about your beliefs, but tries to understand, so he can find a way to make things work for everyone involved. That was the gist of the interview I heard.
When a person asks questions about what you're saying, that's a pretty good indicator that they are truly listening. Not just bobbing their head up and down, as if in agreement, but truly listening. Having a true desire to understand.
I've listened to a lot of Christian radio of late, and the general consensus is, Christians cannot afford to not vote this cycle. Their very freedom to worship is at stake, and they know it.
A lot of people are questioning how a Christian could, in all good conscience, vote for someone like Trump. Well, my personal answer to that is, we're not electing a pastor or a priest. We're electing a leader for our country. A leader that does not represent the loudest mouth, or the deepest pockets, but a leader who will uphold our Constitution.
Lord, bring us Constantine! Amen.
