Anyone know a decent Chrysler mechanic....I have a 2001 Sebring with a transmission issue that I need checked out...I don't think it is anything real serious...Fluid is up and clean (Not burned or smells) No leakage, no warning signs...Just going down the road and it went in neutral and it won't move now...Car is in excellent condition and I want to get it looked at so we can sell it...Help a guy out here....

You may want to check the website recall list....I think that may be one of the recalls that they had a couple of years ago

Chryslers are famous for trans problems. My dodge spirit went thru 3 in its lifetime and now I think my Jeep is starting to act up.

I just had a leak fixed in mine. Second time they worked on it. Man I'm glad it was still under warranty at that time!! :faint:

I would think I would have had some kind of warning if it was completly gone...I have a contact to take a look at it....It is going to be a tough decision to make...Book on the car is about 38 to 4....If the trans is gone, I'll probably try to sell it as is for around 15...Does that sound reasonable to anyone? I don't want to hassle of putting a tranny in it....The car is really nice and would make some kid a nice starter car...It is loaded up and very sporty...

Could be a bad torque converter, whole lot cheaper than a trans itself........

Don't most of the newer vehicles use electronic solenoids along with transmission control modules for control of the transmissions operations? Might be an electrical component failed and not be a mechanical issue.

That is what I am thinking/hoping...Maybe a sensor or a relay or some kind of pump....Maybe I am just wishing for the best....

If that is the issue you will get a code on it....you do know how to check for a code, right?

I was told by a little birdy that someone will be down the lane from you tomorrow

This guy from the St Clements Shores area?

I have tried to get a code with no results...I really can't take it anywhere unless I load it on my trailer and take it to them...But I can do that...I'll have to see if that little birdy is telling the truth....Want me to say Hi to anyone for ya?

There is also an Automatic Transmission Relay located in the Power Distribution Center that controls the transmission control module. It might be that simple.

Yea, he's from the shore...if by chance he doesn't show tomorrow, let me know and I'll send you his cell number

No, on the saying "hi" to anyone....there is only one person down there that knows I know you(I like it that way) and I think he may be in Va with his new love interest

On a Chrysler, you wont get any codes for any transmission related issues. the car will only display emissions related codes. ABS, trans, those things wont display. Code readers are not too expensive, ones like this I think can be found at Wally Mart.
