We used to get them at Western Auto store in LaPlata. $10 sounds about right, but Mom & Pop fussed because you could get 2 pairs of no-names at Ben Franklin for that price.

I think my first pair of Chucks were purchased back in the late 60's out of a big cardboard bin at the local Acme grocery store.
