The Escapist : News : Church Groups Using Halo 3 to Attract Youth

Minsters and pastors, increasingly anxious to boost youth attendance in their congregations, are holding "Halo nights" in which teenagers can get together and shoot each other in the face. While the game seemingly violates at least a few of the Church's tenets, particularly the one about not killing stuff, some church leaders are praising the game's effectiveness in reaching the vital but elusive demographic of boys and young men. In a letter to parents in his church, Gregg Barbour, youth minister at Colorado Community Church in Denver, wrote, "We want to make it hard for teenagers to go to hell."

I'm not entirely sure, but I somehow doubt that blasting a virtual plasma projectile through a virtual space warrior's brainstem is an actual violation of the 6th Commandment.

That's the one about "killing stuff".

i have played halo 3 and that is not how mister chief looks. His body is right but you never see mister chiefs face ever. that is the rule of halo you can never see it. besides i do not envision him with long hair like that dude. one day i want to be like mister chief cause he fights aliens. i know that aliens exist but nobody every believes to me.

I think that the both of you should design Spartan II helmets - made entirely of tin foil - and then wear them at all times.

That would so rock.

You'd be Spartan Buddies.

thats a dum idea and it would be vary disrepectful to mister chief to make a tinfoil hat and call it his helm. i have been meaning to make a replica but i cant find any dolomite for it. and i only have enough for 1 helm so it would have to be mine. and i dont share anything evr.

This is true. I didn't think about that. The Master Chief would be extremely offended by this, I think.

true. glad you agree. if you have any dolmite i might be able to try to make an extra helm for you if you wanted. i read that you must have dolmite
