My husband is teaching American history at a local high school and he wants a reenactor to come and talk with his class. Does anyone know of someone who would be willing?

Maryland,..my Maryland..

Sadley, unless your husband is teaching in the private school, It is HIGHLY unlikely that the reenactor would be able to bring any edged weapons or his musket/rifle due to our fanatical anti-gun laws.

Better to refer the kids to the Marching through Time event up at Marietta Mansion in Mid April.--they have battles & set ups of multiple periods: Student discounts for entry too.

Most reenactors have given up on public school demos even thoght the money was a needed boost.

Private schools are a LOT easier to get on...just a quick call to the local police station ahead of time and written permission from the headmaster/principal.

One more thing...why is he doing CW now??...is it a two year Am Hist course?
If so,...good!
If not...some advisor is gonna break his butt for moving too slow (I speak from experience!!)

Yes, it is a private school. He took over for an overburdened teacher. As for it just now being the Civil War, the curriculum had them go through the Civil War in one week. That's just a little too fast. He couldn't do it. In fact, he's planning to take another two to three weeks to finish Gettysburg, Vicksburg, etc. He figures they'll be alright.
