book "Dead or Alive" is not just great, it's Tony the Tiger GRRRRREAT!

Clancy gets the band back together and sends them on an international manhunt starting in an Afghanistan cave and ending on the edge of your seat. It is formulaic for Clancy BUT anything in a series can get that way. This book is definitely worth the read time.

Glad to hear it. Hubby is a Clancy fan, but has been disappointed with some of the last few he has read. I took a chance and picked it up for him for christmas.

The book focuses more on the "next generation" of clandestine operators which leaves things open for future installments. It's no "Cardinal of the Kremlin" it's more tech oriented but it reads well, especially after such a long lay off.

Well, I hope he enjoys it. I can't read Clancy myself, but I like his stories when they're made into movies.

Mixed bag.

Both Clear and Present Danger and Sum of All Fears were fundamentally altered from the book so as to be unrecognizable.

Hunt for Red October was true to the book and Patriot Games was pretty close.

"Against All Enemies" is a definite must read for any Clancy fan, period end of sentence. It's not as tech heavy as "Dead or Alive" and it devotes a fair amount of time developing characters, both good and bad, which really makes it one of the best books he's ever written IMHO.

This is not a Jack Ryan/John Clark installation so you can pick it up and watch ALL the characters develop, which to me made the book more enjoyable, and helps new people to Clancy's writing get into the story without having missed anything in character development.

Maxwell Moore is the main character of this book and he is a John Clark for the 21st century. Of course all the usual Clancy traits are evident, highly descriptive technical and action scenarios, with healthy dollop of sexual interactions that actually add to the storyline instead of detracting from it.

Just read it or buy it for someone for them to read, but buy teh book, not the evil on earth ebook version.
