Classifieds scam - don't fall for it!

This goes for all online auctions and classifieds, not just the Somd.com one. Craig's List is notorious for being a haven for scammers and criminals.

This is the response recently received by advertisers in the classifieds:

Sorry for the late reply. I'm interested and satisfied with the asking price/condition and ready for it to be picked up. I will add $40 extra to your asking price for the hold-down fee and consider it sold to me. I'll overnight a Certified Bank check and have my mover pick up the item after the check has arrived and cleared.

I would have loved to come and take a look and purchase with cash, but my work frame { supervising manager } is tight and can't work out for me. Regarding this, kindly get back to me with the below information for the check to be made out.

This whole thing screams SCAM, so if you receive something along these lines in response to an online ad just delete it and move on with life. If people stop falling for scams, scammers will stop doing it.
