Space bar doesn't always space. Cigar ashes no doubt. Suggestions on what I can use to flush it out? Brake cleaner or 90% alcohol?

I use a small can of compressed air. I am concerned mostly with cat and dog hair which are displaced quite easily with compressed air.

You might have to remove the key caps to have better access - most keyboards have key caps meant to be removed. You don’t have to have a specialized tool to remove, but it helps immensely. I got one for $5 from Amazon.

My geek son did that years ago on my new computer trying to hide the coke he spilled. Turned out they were non removable. SUPER lucky Best Buy gave me a new one.

Sneakers

Just sneakin' around....
Just saw a vid on a guy that cleans computer boards and repairs them. He sticks them in an ultrasonic washer with a bit of non-detergent cleaner for 10 min or so, then rinse in isopropyl alcohol. Allow to dry. But most aren't as long as a keyboard.

I'd flush it with isopropyl and let it dry.

Don't wanna, hate setting up new computer.
Is this an internal KB on a laptop? I was thinking that new new plain jane usb keyboard aren't all that expensive. If it's a laptop KB, do you have a PC repair shop "in town" that could do it for you? If the KB is readily available, it isn't that big of a job to swap them. They shouldn't charge much. Good luck.
