I was at the Annapolis mall yesterday and there was this vendor selling pyt clip less curling irons and hair straighteners. I really liked the clip less curling iron but wanted other's opinions. Have you tried them and if so do you like them? I have used the same Revlon curling iron for years.

I would probably burn myself trying to wrap my hair around a clipless curling iron. I can be clumsy at times. :coffee:

I prefer my Chi

The lady had a Chi and it was scratched to show they aren't full 100% ceramic plates. Not sure if it is true or not? I have never used one before. My cousin bought the hair straightener they had it also curls hair as well but I have straight hair and no need for it. I let her try the curler on my hair it worked really well and was super easy and quick. My hair was already curled but the few pieces she did stayed curly the entire day. I also couldn't bring myself to spend 100 bucks on a curling iron even though I really liked the way it curled my hair. I googled it and amazon has a few for around 40 but what if they are fake?

My daughter has one for cosmo and loves it. That's all they use. I think getting used to it is the trick.

I looooooved my clipless curling iron. It does take more time than a regular curling iron and there is a learning curve, but I think the curls are more natural looking, at least for me (I have lots and lots of hair). I will say that my hair is shoulder length now and this type of curling iron just isn't working for me anymore. When my hair was long it was great, though. I think because I have less hair to wrap around the barrel the results are just different.

I agree, the curls are much more natural looking.

I bought a NUME brand curling wand and I love it! I used it last weekend and got a TON of compliments. I actually had it with me in my car and a friend even asked to use it because she wanted her hair like mine lol. One word of advice, wear the a glove, mine came with one, hopefully they all do. I thought I'd be fine without it, two painful blisters later, the glove was on! There are some really great YouTube tutorials for it, you can just google NUME curling wand. They're pricey, but you can always find a coupon code, I paid $40 for mine and they retail for $150+. I will say this, the first time I tried , it was an epic failure, but after that I was good to go and the curls look SO awesome.

I have used my regular curling iron for this wrapping the hair around and over the clip. Works pretty well. Would these be any better than that?

I've never tried that before, so I'm not sure. The wand I have is skinnier at the base and gets wider at the top so you do get a more natural looking curl.

Yes!!! I have tried it with my Revlon curling iron and it didn't work well. Don't get me wrong I love my Revlon curling iron have had it for 10 years probably. However when the lady at the mall did the demonstration on my hair it was quicker and the curls were tighter! You can get a bigger barrel if you want a looser curl. The one I am interested in has 5 barrels and is like $120.. with my cousins cosmetology discount but I still can't bring myself to pay that much even though I really want it. I keep telling myself I can buy 4 jumbo things of diapers for that price lol. I am gonna check out the link wraplady shared and check into the ones I saw on amazon.

The clipless curling irons are conical in shape, and I think that has a lot to do with the more natural curl. The cylindrical shape of a regular curling iron produces different results. For the record, I have a cheap one from Sally's (not sure of the brand) and I never use the glove because I can't get a good grip on my hair with it on. I've only burned myself a couple of times.
