Club Libby Lu

So I was looking at their website and found it quite interesting that this is a "BIG THING" for girls ages 5-12 for birthday parties.

For those of you who have never heard of it, Club Libby Lu's is a store in Tysons that you can host a Birthday party for girls, who get "dressed up" with makeup, hair, outfits, etc, the cost generally runs from $21.50 & up per girl.

I was wondering does anyone know of a business in the Southern MD area that does this same type of thing. Even someone who would travel to the birthday party and do it at their home or is this just something that is done out in the NoVa area.

If you are interested in checking out the website here it is www.clublibbylu.com

I think that's cute.. It's like slumber parties for kids who's mom's are lazy and uninvolved...

If there isn't one down here... Why not start one up yourself..:yay:

I agree with you on this. I had plenty of slumber parties growing up. Mom let us raid her closet and makeup drawer. She participated in it all. I can even remember her doing a "fashion" show with us. She baked the cake herself. I would imagine that it was alot cheaper than $21.50 per kid. :yay:

I like build-a-bear better...

There's also a place in Waldorf where you can decorate your own piece of pottery. It's up on Rt. 5 by the McDonald's and Rita's.

Perhaps you have some teenage relatives or neighbors who you could maybe "hire" to do this service. Pull out their fanciest clothes, make up and hair accessories and come glam your girls up? I have a portable closet FULL of prom/homecoming gowns, as I'm sure many of the high school girls do.

There is a place in La Plata

I can't remember the name but my girls had a birthday party there and they did it as a princess tea party. They al dressed up like princesses and had there little tea party, games, snacks. It was really neat and different then the standard Chuck E Cheese and Hyperspace thing. It's located in the samespot as Ledo's Pizza. I think allstate insurance and a salon are in the same building.

But they had a variety of themed dress up activities. They were a little pricey if I remember correctly. But definetly worth checking out.

Okay. I spoil my babies rotten. Yet, I'd still rather have a little birthday party with friends and family at my home. I do not see the point in spending hundreds of dollars on a birthday party. Have one at your house. Invite the special people. Buy the kid a special present or two. Make he/she feel like it is their special day. No need to dump hundreds of money into having a party somewhere else. I bet that you can have a princess tea party using the damn Dollar Store or Oriental Trading Co. I bet that you can do a party for 25 people for less than half of what you'd dump on a professional children's party.

I don't know.....I guess to each tere own. I like my kids to get out of the house and do something really special. It's there day and as long as I have the money then thats my choice. My kids really appreciate it and I love the fact that when that party is over at whatever location we just leave. There is no mess, preparing any kind of food it's all taken care of by the place you are paying for. I have done parties at my house and took my kids to various locations to host a party and to be honest I have yet to see a big difference in price. I spend about the same as I do at home as I would to host a party at Chuck E Cheese, Hyperspace or Perect Parties Inc. By the time you buy food, drinks, goodie bags, decorations and the time and effort preparing your house for the party I would prefer to take it somewhere else and let someone else deal with it for about the same cost.

Just my opinion.

I used to have all their parties at home, then I planned an outside party and it rained. That was the party where no one declined and all the parents stayed and they were all in my house (with a pinata) and I couldn't get people to LEAVE when it was over. Now I'll spend a couple of hundred, not have to clean up, and leave when I'm ready. Believe me its worth the stress reduction.

Bresamil I agree!

There's a start time and a end time......and no clean up !

There's always a couple people that never get the hint to leave when your at your own house.

Then again your children are very young and its mainly family. I had mine at home until they started school and had too many friends.

I'm a firm believer that they won't remember most of the parties anyway. I vaguely remember a party at the Skate Station when I was younger, I had a slumber party when I was like 8 and I had a party at 14 because my parents felt sorry for me (I had had 2 really crappy birthdays in a row). I don't think I'll pay a bunch of money for birthday parties for my kids, but I can't say that for sure. We always had small (35 or 40 people is small for us) family parties at my grandmothers. The normal Friday night dinner with a cake.

There's a libby lu in Columbia Mall. My daughter went there for a friend's party and loved it.

One year I ordered bears that you can stuff at home and had a teddy bear party. They come in a kit with a birth certificate and a star. I bought my own stuffing. They have all kinds of stuffed animals like build a bear. It's really cute and half the price.

OMG... that place is the DEVIL! If you walked by it in the Mall of America you'd get spattered with glitter. There were little girls dressed up like street walkers with more make up on than most drag queens. If your little girl wasn't doing the "make over" then she was creating her own make up creations or buying an assortment of overpriced make up created for little girls.
