Trump rolls out his most MAGA picks for new White House term

It was a night of MAGA shock and awe that even Donald Trump’s most devoted fans might not have dreamed possible.

But the president-elect’s blizzard of Cabinet and staff picks on Tuesday, each one more unorthodox than the last, only bolstered fears among his critics that his chaotic crew is about to take the country on a dangerous ride.

Trump named his new super buddy Elon Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX pioneer, to head a new department to gut government agencies and budgets. Musk is an authentic genius and visionary. But in his new job, the world’s richest man may be able to wipe out governance and regulations while enjoying the largesse of vast federal contracts for his businesses. It’s a situation that makes the ethical alarms and conflicts of interest of Trump’s first term look minuscule by comparison.

In an even more stunning move, Trump named Pete Hegseth — a Fox News anchor and outspoken booster of the president-elect – for secretary of defense. Hegseth has a distinguished combat record and does sterling work for veterans, but he lacks the decades of high-level strategic experience that presidents normally seek from those put in charge of the most powerful military in the world.

Earlier Tuesday, Trump chose former presidential candidate, Fox News host and Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who CNN’s KFile reported once said, “there’s really no such thing as a Palestinian,” as the new US ambassador to Israel, dealing an immediate blow to fading hopes that a two-state solution might ease the Middle East’s torment.

And the MSNBC take...

A running list of all the people Trump has picked to serve in his administration

With a slew of dramatic changes expected in his second term, the 47th president will rely on loyalists to carry out his agenda.

President-elect Donald Trump has been rolling out staffing decisions for his incoming administration, naming some of his top allies to prominent positions in his Cabinet and beyond.

With a slew of dramatic changes expected in his second term, Trump will rely on his band of loyalists to carry out his agenda. Here are all the staffing announcements Trump has made for his second term so far.

Tom Homan, border czar

Homan, a former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement under Trump, will play a major role in carrying out the president-elect's hardline immigration agenda.

Trump has repeatedly said on the campaign trail that he would enact "the largest deportation program in American history," a plan that would pose monumental logistical, financial and personnel challenges. Trump told NBC News last week that there would be no "price tag" on his mass deportation plan.

Pete Hegseth, Defense secretary

Trump nominated Hegseth, a Fox News host and Army veteran, to lead the Defense Department.

"With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice — Our Military will be Great Again, and America will Never Back Down," Trump said in a statement. He continued: "Nobody fights harder for the Troops, and Pete will be a courageous and patriotic champion of our 'Peace through Strength' policy.

Trump is on fire!! Great picks all around.

In a "clever" move, the new advisory team he's standing up with Musk etc isn't actually a "Department" as that relates to the official definition of one.....and which therefore neatly skirts the various disclosure requirements someone appointed to a "real" dept post would be subject to.

For your consideration ...

Just remember folks, we plebs are all just along for the ride. Time will tell how things will play out. Stock up on popcorn in your favorite flavors. Though, during this time, it sure is a whole lot better to feel exuberant, than discouraged as in the past.

I'm willing to bet stock holders and board members for Musks companies will be raising objections to his attention being pulled from those businesses.

I had the same concerns until I did a little interneting. Fun fact: a number of SecDefs don't even have military experience. They're longtime bureaucrats and in sectors completely unrelated to DoD. Ash Carter was a think tanker and policy wonk. Leon Panetta was a professional politician. Chuck Hagel was a politician and businessman. Bill Cohen was a lawyer. I didn't see Democrats bitching and whining about any of them.

Many times these cabinet positions are loyalty rewards and consolation prizes. What in the hell qualified Pete Buttigieg to be Secretary of Transportation? Because he drove a car once? And yet the Dembots gushed like schoolgirls over him.

And many times a person has qualifications on paper, but they're half retarded screwups. Talking to you, Janet Yellen. You too, Lloyd Austin.

Concerns about Kristi Noem for DHS, is she any less qualified or competent than Alejandro Mayorkas? Yet the media whiners loved his ass.

We're just used to the Swamp, that's all. And now it's time to try something else.
