CNN Special: Black In America

Adding Diversity to SOMD
Took you that long to come up with a 2002 lawsuit against one Target store?

Also, read the critique. The study is flawed. Didn't think I'd read it didja?? :bubble:

FAIL

C'mon Moe..... try harder.
Because you think I can't find hard core evidence of racism it must not exist!!

Your right, there isn't any racism in America... there isn't discrimination in the workplace...... I must be a crazy liberal racist militant to think that racism is alive and well in America.. What in the hell was I thinking

:banghead:

You are weak minded (or a blind racist) if you even consider that report as being true. If you had of said "a few U.S. company's), that would be believable but your EXTREME example just shows where you are coming from. You definitely need an education on reality.
Sorry but I don't remember quoting a number... So I'm unsure of this EXTREME amount you speak of... The quote said "companies" and IMO if 1 company has admitted to such that's bad enough... FYI... It is not my quote is it a quote taken straight from one of the websites promoting the show...

LMAO… Well considering that he’s personally told me “I should be kissing his feet because it’s his people that brought scum like me to the US and that I should be thanking him every time I receive my welfare check in the mail” I’d say he knows nothing about racism or discrimination…

Oh, No, there is definately racism in America. Of that there is no doubt. But anyone that says all of this racism is white towards black is in serious denial of reality.

I'm black and I live in american. What is this special going to teach me that I don;t already know?
I am appalled that you would say such a thing living in the current environment that we live in. This special isn't just about you, it's a learning experience for all people to enjoy. This special isn't just about showing the negatives of black people, it shows the positives as well. You need this type of special to be aired on television to show some of the narrow minded people out there that black people have contributed many things to this American society that we all live in.
As a Black American, you should be educating people of other races / cultures that black people are not the drug addicts and thugs that some individuals in society try to portray us. You should also take the time out and experience other cultures and embrace the differences that they may have.
You need to wake up and stop living in la la land.

You are 100% right!! :buddies:
I agree, there is racism in America and everyone is guilty of it (whites, blacks, orientals, hispanics, native americans, etc). But there are others have been dishing it out more than others during the history of this country (I shall not name anyone). Remember that the Constitution was not written in favor of anyone who was not a white male at the time it was written in the 18th century. Everyone else (blacks, women, native americans, orientals, hispanics and now gays) had to fight for the rights that they have now.
This is 2008, this isn't just about race anymore, Americans discrimate against anyone who isn't "American" or if they are different from us. People treat people different for all kinds of reasons such as physical appearance, disability, social status, what job they do, (#1 reason) how much money they have, etc.
We need to teach our children that everyone is equal and to do that, we need to lead by example.

I never said racism doesn't exist!! I'm sick and tired of folks like you and R3al posting bogus crap implying that black people are so held down by white people. Either put up or shut up!! So far everything you both put up was shot down. Again, you FAIL!!!

1. I don't believe I called you scum.
2. I typed that post because you pranced in here trying to defend a felon by saying he was persecuted for his color. See reply above to Moe. Specials on a liberal network won't cut the mustard.

I once worked with a woman, who was a 3rd generation recipient of welfare money/housing and she also did not have a husband for her 2 children - who she had at 14 and 16 years old. She used to tell me, that she believed it was her right to have children with whoever she wanted to and it was the governments responsibility to pay. She worked with me under a welfare to workfare grant (i am educated and had a respectable job) and was pissed that she wasn't able to stay home - her kids were already in school and were 10 and 12. She told me that her momma did it and her grandmother did it and even her great grandmother - all of which were still alive and were teen mothers. She also told me that her friends and community were all part of this belief system.

This is what I feel needs reform - the belief that your livlihood and home and food is owed to you for nothing....I believe unless you are disabled or elderly that you should not be given welfare. Get off your butt, get a job and take care of your children or get some birth control and a morals and values.

Just my opinion.

Special Reports - Black in America
I personally challenge you to be white in America and try to tip toe around trying not to offend any race by actions or words............not to be picked for jobs or college (even if you have better grades) because of affirmative action. To be CONSTANTLY told how bad we treated other races with slavery (which by the way is beating a dead horse, it's over get over it....you were never a slave and I was never a slave owner). To CONSTANTLY be told how bad THE MAN is.............

If you would stop preaching this chit to your children and worry more about raising them to get good grades to be able to get a great job then guess what.....the crap may end. Most white people are just trying to raise their kids, pay their bills and make it to work everyday......and guess what? when we go to church we don't have sermons about how bad blacks are......we sing, pray and worship GOD......you should try it, it may just work out for ya.............

Unfortunately, I do not think it will ever happen. Too many sissies around worrying about someone's pitiful feelings getting hurt and saying it's not fair until they are blue in the face. I'm sure it would be nice to have our country stop politically correct BS and make the able people fend for themselves. If they can't, less to worry about.

I take it that you are not black or hispanic and lived in Southern Maryland all of your life because you haven't experienced the subtle showings of racism that goes on. Have you ever been followed in a store for no reason? Have you been walking down the street and some random woman holds her purse very tightly because she thinks you want it (she didn't hold it tightly when people of her race just walked past)? When you are in a conversation with a person of another race and the person says "your people"? I thought we were all American people.

I don't have a problem with white people as I have one as my spouse nor does my spouse have a problem with black people. But we do have a problem with people of all races who keep this narrow minded racism nonsense going. People are people no matter what color they are or where they are from, accept that fact.

Face the facts, it's all about economics these days’ folks, the rich and the poor and there are a lot of poor people in this country. Rich people get what they want; poor people don't get anything at all but another bill.

It's not the Government's Affirmative Action program fault that are in your current situation, it's not Black people's fault that you don't have the things you want and it's not White people's fault that you are in your current situation. Stop blaming other people for your problems.

If you are going to reply to this post, please put something that is interesting and well thought, not the mindless garbage I've been reading lately.

Actually, I have 2 year old son that I am teaching ABCs, 123s, colors, shapes, etc. However, when he old enough to understand I will teach him AMERICAN history. I don’t preach about “the white man” and all of the other non-sense but I do think it’s important that he knows what his ancestors went through so that he will appreciate the opportunities in life that others have fought for him to have. I would hope that you would teach your children their history as well.

The Pastor of my Church is a white male and the congregation is very diverse so if you can image we don’t talk about “the man” in church either. We usually talk about God, Jesus, Mary, you know all that good stuff :).

Regardless, the purpose of this post was not to go back and forth about race but for EVERYONE (including myself) to educate themselves. So often on this forum I see people making ridiculous comments without having the facts / proof to back up their statements. If you are going to comment about other races, ethnicities, cultures, etc., at least be intelligent enough to educate yourself about it first.

That's as far as I could read. I am a white american and have only lived here for 4 years. I grew up not an hour from Chicago and visited frequently. I have been followed, I have had women clutch their purse in my presence, and have heard the phrase your people. I have also been spat at just for being in the Navy. Not all people in different ports like americans no matter their reason for being there. Boo hoo, people treat me different. Everyone has their opinion and ways of expressing it. Am I sorry it's happened to myself and others, not really. People are people and no one is going to get everyone to "be nice to others". Welcome to yet another life's mysteries.

Then you are in the same boat as the rest of us....middle class. My point was the fact that there are good people and bad people in all races. It just seems that the black community wants to make major issues out of things that just keep the pot stirred. I have never understood this....

Even Jesse Jackson this week (I am using him because it was recent) was taped saying some very distrubing things about Obama.....why? I do not like Obama (IMO he has no experience with the Washington DC political agenda) but I still found what Jesse said as totally WRONG! You would think Jesse would be proud to be supporting America's first black presidential candidate...so you tell me what does Black America want??????

I have just gotten to the point that no matter what we do it is either never enough or its wrong........
