Cobb Island beagle

Has anyone around Cobb Island seen a stray beagle that runs around the corner of 257 and Cobb Island Rd (in front of the Seafood Co?). Every time I pass by there he's running around the side of the road. I have stopped and tried to get him to come to me but he's really shy. He runs away and then watches me from afar. I am worried about him getting hit. He seems like a really sweet dog. I have a beagle who was a stray so I have a soft spot for him.

if he is there everytime you go by, dont you think he belongs to someone who lives nearby?

Yes, I brought hot dogs and bacon. I am sure he caught the smell but it wasn't enough to lure him. He wouldn't come to me. He sat and watched me from a distance for a long time. The people at the seafood company there feed him, so he's well fed, and he doesn't look sick. I am just worried about him getting hit because there are so many cars that go through there. He looks just like a typical beagle too - perks his ears, rolls in the grass, plays. My husband and my sister also both tried to call him - both times he ran away into the woods - and they are what I'd call "dog whisperers" LOL much more than me. I went back a few times which is probably why he was willing to sit and watch me from a distance instead of take off.

We talked to the people who work at the seafood place. Those men feed him and see him on a daily basis, and they were the ones who said he doesn't belong to anyone. He also doesn't have a collar.

Why me??
He does not belong to anyone. My in-laws who live around that area have seen him for months. They say he is very shy, they have tried to get him also. It's funnt cause we were just talking about that puppy this past weekend.

I may be out there this weekend with my formerly stray beagle. He may be shy but I bet he would be interested in playing with a fellow beagle. Sounds to me that if the seafood joint is feeding him, he belongs to them... whether they care to admit it or not.

Do not... I repeat... do not throw KFC chicken at the stray in the attempts of luring him to you. It will only make it worse.

Yeah you definitely don't want to throw anything toward him or make any sudden moves. He is very shy and will bolt. I am worried he will get scared and run into the street. Woodyspda - that's a good idea about bringing along your beagle. I thought about doing that too, but my beagle is a little on the obnoxious side when she sees other dogs. Post an update if you can!
