On November 3, 2020, at approximately 1:21 a.m. deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle accident with reported injury in the 25800 block of Three Notch Road, in the area of South Sandgates Road in Mechanicsville. Deputies arrived on scene and located the operator, Lawrence Alvin Hoffman Jr., age 26 of Mechanicsville, lying unconscious on the side of the roadway. Members of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and continued the investigation.
Investigation determined Hoffman was traveling northbound on Three Notch Road, operating a 2014 Mazda6, when for unknown reasons the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Hoffman was ejected from the vehicle and transported to an area trauma center for treatment.
