When I saw the original I said, "Bleh." The color throws everything off. And the fact that artificial light was used is apparent, where with the B&W it's not so much.
I'm not trying to be hard on you, but I don't like it. The two versions do present a good example, though: many people believe that great photographs are born at the push of the shutter button. But often times - more often than not, really - hitting the shutter is the start, not the end, of creating a great photograph, since so much can be done in post-processing to draw out the essence the photographer was attempting to capture.
In your case, I think you caught a neat scene originally and turned it into a truly intriguing photograph afterward.
