Comcast rates go up again.

For the second time in less than 2 years, Comcast has raised my rates, this time by about $14 a month. The last one was by almost $25, making a $39 increase in less than 2 years. I'm now paying $100+ a month for cable and internet.

I get my cable tv and high speed internet service through them. They're about to get a phone call. Satellite & DSL here I come.

Hey Sleuth, I got DirecTV almost 3 years ago and never have once regretted..DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish Comcast would go to an ala cart programming. I hear most of the expense comes from the sports channels. I wonder how much the cost would go down if you chose not to subscribe to ESPN. Then again, the cost for ESPN would increase and the complaints would come flooding in.

Can't you get comcast internet without their cable service? I thought some mentioned they do that now.

By the way DirecTV is the way to go. Have had it for 2 years and love it!!! The only thing we miss is the weather channel. You dont' get that personalized version on satellite like you do no cable - but hey I can always go to weather.com.

Me too! I paid $49.99 for highspeed with Comcast in Waldorf, and now that I am with GMP, I only pay $39.99. We just got DSL in our hood too, but I am thinking it might not be worth the $10.00 less a month. But I am still undecided.

But then they jack up your costs for cable service, so that my cable would end up being like $70 alone. I tried calling last time they raised the rates to "downgrade" my service and get just a basic cable. I only watch Fox News, HGTV, TLC, the WB, and a few local channels. They informed me that if I tried to break out of my current "bundle" package to get a lower tier of cable, my total cost would actually go up, because I wouldn't be getting my "bundle discount" on cable and internet together.

The problem is... for me to get DSL, I have to buy phone service too, which I don't want. I use a cell phone for all my calls.

I guess I should have pointed out that I get the digital exansion package and HBO, so mine is more expensive than usual.
