Nothing to see here
Comcast is apparently suffering a nationwide DNS server failure. No ETA on repair. This may be posted elsewhere but I can't search the pages, I have to reload pages 3 or 4 times to get here.

A couple of days ago, our network at work was attacked with a virus. I'm hearing that it was fairly widespread. Of course the details are at work, but off the fly, I want to say it was some type of worm32 virus. It also messed up our DNS server. Good ole DNS.

if you will
I have had problems for a week here in White Plains with my Comcast internet. The guys visited the house and determined there are a few lines outside the house that need replacing. Now this nationwide DNS problem? I hope this all gets straightened out so my SoMD forum access can be back to 24x7!

Uh...showing computer ignorance here. The whole Internet uses DNS, Domain Name Service. Without it you would have to address every node by it's IP address.

I bet the servers that were crashed were Micorsoft or had not been updated. Microsoft's DNS implementation is many years behind the rest in the Unix and Linux world. Last time I checked, Microsoft's was based on BIND version 4 and the current versions are 9.+.
