Last night was - ok. My wife is enjoying it. I'm skeptical, because I've read about the writers and the ones making the show - I *know* their bias will come through. And some of it does, already. *ALL* the 'bad guys' so far are Republicans.
It's becoming more obvious that the former President was a bit of an SOB, so no surprise there. He apparently weighed the possibility of making Mackenzie a Supreme just to get rid of her - and give the VP spot to Templeton (Sutherland). No wonder he's pizzed - he's been robbed TWICE.
The thing that annoyed me about last night was the unrealistic outcome of the strike on the coca fields of (Latin American dictatorship). The premise was promised continual bombardment of the nations sole (drug-producing) crop until they overthrew the usurping general and reinstate their democratically elected leader. Within a week, the people arose, the military turned on him and all is well.
Does anyone remember that this is what was SUPPOSED to happen, in Iraq?
*TWICE*?
It wouldn't happen. Not in the real world. In the real world, the people, who have no guns, faced with the prospect of facing REAL SOLDIERS *with* guns, would do what they do elsewhere in the world....
Run like hell to the border.
This is what happens, when you assume that people overseas will respond like Americans.
In the real world, the place would get bombed to hell, people would run, curse the Americans - the UN and the rest of the world would condemn it, people would be protesting the bombing in Washington, the President's approval rating would drop, and in a couple week's time, the dictator would be back in full swing.
THAT would be real life. Since we're dealing with a somewhat liberal show, most of her solutions will work anyway, however unrealistic they are.
