St. Mary's Co. Commissioners Appoint James Gotsch Director Department of Public Works & Transportation

LEONARDTOWN – The Commissioners of St. Mary’s County have appointed James Gotsch, Director of the Department of Public Works & Transportation (DPWT). Gotsch assumes responsibilities effective Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022.

“We are fortunate to have Mr. Gotsch join the team, and we know he will be an asset to county government and our community. It was a rigorous search to find the right candidate for this position, and we are confident we’ve made the right choice,” said Commissioner President Randy Guy.

Mr. Gotsch is a professional engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Architecture from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. As the new Director, Gotsch brings more than 37 years of engineering experience, having worked previously in the private sector with his primary focus in civil engineering and land development.

“I love St. Mary’s County and am excited to begin the important work of serving this community as the Director of the Department of Public Works & Transportation,” said Mr. Gotsch.
