Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is hosting a virtual community meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 1 focusing on Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funding. The federal government has supported school districts around the country with supplemental funds for continued, if altered, operations under COVID-related restrictions and mitigation efforts.
Three rounds of COVID relief funding have been authorized by U.S. Congress since the start of the pandemic. The rounds of funding are called the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief — also known as ESSER. Each round of ESSER funds have been authorized by separate legislative acts that the president has signed into law.
During the meeting, CCPS staff will provide an update on how the school system used the first two rounds of ESSER funds. To learn more about how the first two rounds of funding were allocated, click here.
Community members are invited to provide input during the Nov. 1 meeting on how the third round of ESSER funds should be used.
