PGPD Community Tip Leads to Identity of Murder Suspect

Homicide Unit detectives credit an anonymous tip to Prince George’s County Crime Solvers with helping identify a suspect in a fatal shooting in Landover. The suspect is 55-year-old Troy Eugene Smith of Palmer Park. He’s charged with fatally shooting 30-year-old Ronald Henderson, Jr. of Clinton.



On July 18th, at approximately 11:00 am, patrol officers responded to the 2400 block of Kent Village Place for a shooting. The victim was located outside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead on the scene.

On July 31st, PGPD detectives released video of a person of interest in the case. Based on that release, a tipster came forward and provided information that helped detectives identify and ultimately charge Smith. Smith is the man seen in the video. The motorcycle has been recovered.




The preliminary investigation revealed the fatal shooting stemmed from a recent argument between the two men.
