Hubby has a VA appointment in DC this Friday morning at 8. We live near Lusby. Does anyone know what time he should leave here to make his appointment at 8?

lmao. It took him 4 hours yesterday afternoon to get home from DC, and wound up IN Virginia. And that was WITHOUT traffic. Mapquest doesn't give estimated times for morning rush hour traffic, but thanks.

Drive time to the VA Hospital depends on which route taken to get there. If the appointment isn't too terribly early, it might be easier to park at the Branch metro station and take the subway into to town. There are two options to get to a shuttle that takes you directly to the front door of the hospital. Transportation - Washington DC VA Medical Center Saves the parking hassles at the VA and National Children's Medical center.

I travel this route every day, but from Prince Frederick. Is he familiar with where he's going? Where in DC? Does he have to find parking, etc? How long is his appointment? He could always use the commuter bus and there is a noonish bus returning to Calvert. You can PM me if you need help, I'll be happy to give you info.

Generally it's about 1.5 hour commute but it does depend on your answers to the above questions.

Just saw VA..

my dad lives in clinton (only about 15 minutes from DC line) and he drives to the VA hospital for appts every Friday... he leaves the house at 0600 to avoid the traffic... he gets to the VA around 7 i think??, has breakfast at the cafe there. Better to be there and have to wait, than to be stressed out and late for the appt.

It's up next to Children's isn't it??

Appointment at 8AM, leave around 6 should be good.

Careful with Garmin though. It can take you through the heart of DC in rush hour traffic and you'd be SCREWED!!

I don't go up 4, but if you are leaving from Lusby it may work to go across the bridge go up to Waldorf, take 210 (?) to 295 then 395.. 395 ends about 2 miles from the VA. Don't know the street names but it's basically go to the right at the end of 395, bear right to get you to NY Ave, take a left on NY ave takes you straight to the VA.

Being stressed, high blood pressure.. elevated pulse.. sweats.. Might be a good thing prior to a VA appt..

Make the voices stop!!!!!
Went to a VA appt there last Wednesday from Lusby, took about an hour and a half. Biggest issue was parking. There is a lot of construction at the VA, parking is tough. Took 25 minutes of circling the lot to find one.
