Computer Repair shops?

My computer needs to be repaired and I'm trying to look for a good shop to take it in to in Waldorf, but I can't find any feedback anywhere online. Anybody have any experience with any of the shops in Waldorf or La Plata?

How was it? Is there a service charge? How much did it cost? Would you go back?

What do you need done? or should I say, what is the problem?

I have not dealt with a computer shop in Waldorf except to buy a part for one of mine in an emergency 10 years ago...

I believe my fans need to be replaced. They are always running, and I'm scared of my computer overheating.

Fans will run constantly anyways - they will spin faster when the heat increases inside the case. If the inside of your case is dirty (dusty) it will cover the thermistor which will hold in heat; the dust will act like and insulator and hold in the heat, keeping the thermistor "hotter" telling the fans to spin faster.

Also - in summertime, when the inside of your home is warmer (and more humid) case temperatures will rise causing fans to spin faster.

My advice - get a can of compressed air and take it outside. Open the case up and blow the inside of the case getting all of the dust bunnies out of it and try that to see what you get. Do not be afraid to blow all the components (power supply, around the hard drive, CD/DVD drive, etc) get as much of the crap out that you can. It might help.

Well, your fans should always be running as that's what is keeping your comp from overheating.

If you do need a repair of some kind, I've taken a couple comps to 301 computers when I couldn't fix them myself and they've done a great job.

Bring it by the house, (FT Washington) I use the 80 Gal Air Compressor ....

90 PSI through a 1/8 inch nozzle removes even the toughest fuzz and dust ... :lmao:

I agree. They are knowledgeable but I don't know the cost involved. The can of air works wonders. I took down one of our servers yesterday to do that exact same thing, it's amazing how dusty these machines can get in a month!

If you need more than just cleaning, send me a PM. I live in La Plata and do work on the side. I also come with references.

I've never paid more then $35 .... but it was for fairly routine junk. Also, this was around 3 or 4 years ago, so I'm not sure if the prices have remained the same.
