I have a gateway I bought from Best Buy in 2006. I have not got to use the darn thing since then , it has been at best buy for a new hard drive, modem, and what ever else. A brand new computer you buy at a store should be able to use when you first get it well that wasnt for me. I just got it back yesterday after being down there for the 1,000 times trying to get it fixed.
My problem is when i dialed up im fine, when i get on the internet it FREEZES and i have to shut it down manually.it will tell me that it cant find the address for the internet where i am trying to find like msn, microsoft products or anything i have already in my address line.I have a warranty on this until 2009 by the time i get to use it ,it will expired!!!I dont know of anyone that can help me on this that is why i turn to you guys. I hate to have to pay someone to fix it.But BEST BUY isnt helping me none at all , If anyone can help me please,, im desparate ..:lalala:

That could be a number of reasons but there was no mention of ever finding out about your service provider for the Internet. Have you tried different access numbers? Does the computer ever freeze when not trying to connect to the internet e.g. you can type all day long and play games and such and it works fine? If it does its one of two things. The modem or your provider. My intial guess is modem.

:cough: - Should have bought a Dell!

Reload with Windows and all your problems will go away, something got buggered up with Windows and trying to fix it will take a heck of a lot longer than just rebuilding it.

The only problem is the possibility of losing all his data files. If he decides to reload (and it goes to the Format process) - I sure hope he backs up all his files.
